Invitation to register for participation in the 2020 Africa Regional Round of the Manfred Lachs Spac

Teams from Universities across the Africa Continent are invited to register for the 2020 Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Competition. This is a unique opportunity for law and science students to engage and deepen understanding of legal matters of relevance to outer space, in a unique forum for intellectual and cultural exchange.

The winner of the Africa Regional Round will represent Africa in the upcoming world finals to take place on 12-16 October 2020 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, United Arab Emirates .

The Problem for the Competition , is a case "concerning Jurisdiction and Control in Outer Space,Space Situational Awareness, and Orbital Debris". The world finals are traditionally judged by three members of the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

The team can constitute two or three students currently registered within the faculty of law from any African University. Prior knowledge of space Law is not a prerequisite for participation.

For the year 2019, the African team was represented by the University of Calabar, of Nigeria during the World finals held in Washington DC, NASA Headquarters. The Africa team emerged as the runner up and Mr Ushie Augustine was awarded Best Oralist during the World finals held in Washington DC, NASA Headquarters.
